Guest Aaron Bethke Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 pretty nice 4 door on ebay # 290121382337:) Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 Aaron; Is this your car? Curious why you posted it here as your first and only posting. Do you (or anyone) know what the device mounted to the firewall driver side is? It appears to have vacuum connections associated with the windshield wipers. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 Don..good observation...appears to be possibliy a electric vacuum pump... Quote

JIPJOBXX Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 Looks like to me a vacumm pump because the lines lead to the distributor side and into the dash area. This is probably used to run the wipper motor and in conjuctions with the vacumm advance. (Maybe?) Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 27, 2007 Report Posted May 27, 2007 best not go to the vacuum advance...that is a function of the air through the horn to apply metered vacuum for advacnce purposes..would be of no benefit to have max advance at idle. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Don, I think it's a little self promotion going on here. Has two cars up there. Said the Plymouth has only been repainted once. The same painter must have painted both cars and he only had one color paint. Also, check out that center bracket for the Fulton visor. That must be home made. No Fulton ever came with a bracket like that in the center. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 Norm, maybe someone invented that middle visor support because they had the same experience you did.....visor flyback. Otherwise, that car has a lot of originality. The only thing I could see about the interior that was not original was the armrests were re-covered. A good example for anyone that wants to see original. Quote
eric wissing Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 My 48 has a center bracket that grabs the chrome strip between the two peices of glass. Looks like a factory job. Maybe the on the car for sale is installed wrong? Did a center support come with these? Eric Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 My 50 Studebaker came with the visor and the bracket mounted not to the windshied divider but at the seam between the hood and cowl..lot neater looking that the pictured car above..it also had an additional support form this rod up to the leading edge of the visor...the rod is solid stainless and not very thick so is not as noticable Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted May 28, 2007 Report Posted May 28, 2007 The visor on that Plymouth is a Fulton. You can tell by the brackets on the sides. Fulton's did not come with a bracket to the hood or cowl body. They all attached to the windshield center bar. I have an original Fulton instruction sheet. That's where I took the information from to put on my web site. So, that is a home made bracket. BobT: As a lot of you know I had the Fulton fly back on me. Then a little later I discovered a leak in my center bar. Here's a little additional information on that subject. Last week I pulled the center bar on my coupe. Had bought new center bar weather strip to put in there. However, when I pulled the inside center bar I was able to determine exactly where the center bar weather strip was leaking due to rust on the back of the inside center bar. Evidently it had leaked for a long time and I didn't realize it. The leak was originating from the second screw from the bottom of the center bar. That is just below where the Fulton center bracket is attached to the center bar. That screw hole in the weather strip was slightly larger in diameter than the others in the center bar. That tells me that the constant pulling of air under the Fulton causes constant pulling on that particular screw and over time works that hole larger than the rest. Since the rest of the weather strip looked good I just left it on the car. Then put extra sealer in that hole when I put the new outside center bar on. This may be an area for people who have a visor on their car or truck to keep an eye on. Quote
