atlbluz Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 I am finally getting back to my baby after way too long. It has built up varnish in the fuel lines and pump. I have gotten the pump cleaned out, but the lines are the problem. Is there a 'simple' way to clear these lines? Do I need to pull them completely out of the car to be able to remove the gooey varnish? How clean do they need to be? Any guidance is appreciated. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Replacing them would be best, but if you're really intent on cleaning them out you can use a length of speedometer cable with one end chucked in a drill and the other with the strands expanded a bit to act as a brush. Shoot some brake cleaner into the line then drill away. Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Replace them X3. If the lines are full of varnish what does the inside of the tank look like? Quote
Robert Horne Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 When I was cleaning the carb on my P5, I had many carb cleaners, that did not work well or some not at all. The carb cleaner that worked very good to remove the varnish was Carquest carb cleaner. If your lines are not very old or in good condition, other than the varnish problem, you may want to try the Carquest product. Quote
