Guest 50Plymouth Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Arrgg. I'm grumpy, while working at replacing front coil spring my wrench managed to give a none-to-gentle rap on the glass bowl of the 3 month old fuel pump. *crack *splash *grumble. Learning is good, but sometimes its just too expensive I wonder if I can get just the glass bowl part for a mech. fuel pump? Got a favorite memory or mistake that upset you earlier but you laugh at now? Quote
blueskies Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 How about backing into the engine stand the first time I moved my car out of the garage under it's own power... but I'm still not laughing:rolleyes:. Quote
Young Ed Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 I hit the garage at grandmas with my coupe but thankfully my car isn't painted yet so it just means a little more body work before the paint job. Quote

I hit the garage at Grandpas house in my haste to make it to the movies on time. I had forgotten, temporarily, that I had just completed an addition to the garage. Oh....I'm the Grandpa. Quote
Normspeed Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 50plym, I probably have an extra glass bowl in the parts pile. If you have trouble finding one locally PM me. Quote
RobertKB Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 I took the speedometer out of my '38 Chrysler as it was squeaking. Made sure the NOS convex glass lens from Len Dawson's was well away from where I was working so nothing would happen to it. Had trouble getting the actual speedo out of the back of the unit so went to the window to get more light on the problem. Put a bit of pressure on and it came out no trouble. Only problem was that it was right over where I had put the glass lens for safety, dropped on it, and smashed it. The air was very blue for a very long time. Had a spare plastic lens I used for a while but it did not look anywhere near as nice as the glass so I finally paid $200 for a set of gauges and a speedo just to get a glass lens. Now actually have a spare lens as well as spare gauges and speedos. I can look back on it now and laugh but I sure was pissed off at myself at the time. Quote
