I purchased what I thought was a replacement for my glove box in my 1940 Plymouth wagon. When it arrived it was obviously a different shape and allthough similar, in no way would fit. I contacted the eBay seller and explained what was going on. He was concerned and after sending him some measurements he determined that the factory did not make a correct 1940 Plymouth glove box and was obviously shipping the wrong shape and size. He offered to have them create a new correct glovebox if I had an old pattern to send back to the factory. I did and they will receive it this week. I am anticipating that they will want to know how many additional folks out there would want to purchase the correct one. I think I paid less than $30 and the construction is a heavy duty cardboard with the correct threaded fastener inserts and staples etc . Any interest you '40 guys?

I'm interested in getting one, mines still in good shape but can't hurt to get a spare at a reasonable price.

I got mine many years ago now and it's still in great shape. Are cardboard items all they are interested in reproducing? We could use some steering post seals . My connection has dropped out.

Rodney, I can try my source again for the steering post pad.

The factory I worked at many many years made glovebox inserts for older Corvettes about

every year.      The inserts were made for .050 or 060 caliber jute/chipboard.

I lined them with red flux linings, using walpaper glue.

I see gloveboxs on ebay for my 38, that should fit other 30s Plymouths, but many are

not the same size.    My 37s are very different than my 38s......

Bumping this back up to the top since I'm looking for a glove box for my 1940 plymouth.  First question, are they made from cardboard from the factory?  I was thinking I was missing something made form metal and the cardboard was just a liner.  Or is the glove box liner the only thing that goes in there?

Next, anyone know the vendor Bob got his from?  I found them on ebay for between $40 and $65.  $30 would be better.

Does the glove box have its own key that is different than the ignition and door?  I only got two keys.

It looks like it was made by REM...see pic for details. I like the flocking-it's very close to the original texture.

I checked out REM's website and they list a bunch of retailers that you are supposed to buy through.  None of them list the box for the 1940.  Looks like you need to go through epay
