I've been just visiting from time to time to get info and stay involved because the project has been on the back burner.

Recently I came up with a question:

What wheel options do I have for my truck, a 3/4 ton? I've read stuff about the 1/2 tons but not 3/4. Correct me if I'm wrong but do 1/2 tons have 16's and 3/4 15 inch wheels?

I thought I read jeep wheels would work but I just proved factory cherokee/wrangler wheels from the 90s do not fit over the front wheel center hub.

if pictures help please let me know and I'll email them because they're too big too upload.(2.3mb)

What I'm looking for is 3 Main Answers?

1) What do I have stock or am I supposed to have? Wheel size? backspacing? Looks like crappy rotten tires show 7.00-15.

2) What options do i have?

3) What's probably the most readlity available replacement via craigs/junkyard/etc?

I previosuly gathered this info with merle's help:

Serial Number   83396212
Year 1953
Make Dodge
Model B-4-C
Engine 217.76 Flathead Six
Wheelbase 116
Rating 3/4 Ton
Engineering Code T308
Plant Detroit, Michigan
Build Number 8212

Hopefully this lack of knowledge isn't due to poor forum searching because I did spend some time doing that.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance,

Jon-my poor rusty pilothouse hasn't changed state in months and is snow covered.

Plan is to get covered up in a temp garage soon and actually make progress.

Yes, your B-4-C likely has 15" wheels with 5 X 5" bolt spacing. I'm still using my original wheels. They cleaned up well with fresh paint. I have 235/75R-15 Yokohoma Geolanders mounted on them and they are working well. They also spec out at nearly the same mounted diameter as the original 7.00 x 15's. The parts truck that I dismantled had some other rims which I think may have been from a Ford. I believe Ford and some Chevy's used 5X5" wheels.

my 55 is a 3/4 ton and has 15" wheels.  I have 3 good wheels, with the cap clips, but I'm still using them till the truck is done.

I'd check junkyards, here in central texas, we have a yard with nothing but old stuff, If u need some , I'll look next time im over.

Merle,

Thanks for your continued help.

So out of curiosity the 1/2 ton trucks do they have the same large center hub and just use a 16 inch wheel or?

My 49 half ton currently uses factory 1978 15" Ramcharger 4x4 wheels. They fit perfectly. For your 3/4 ton... the quest for wheels is as close as the nearest junkyard. 5 lug 73-87 Chevrolet 2wd 1/2 ton are 5 on 5. Chevy cars and mini trucks are 5 on 4.75, Mopar cars are 5 on 4.5 or 5 on 4, Ford cars are 5 on 4.5 or 5, fullsized 1/2 ton real Ford trucks are 5 on 5.5 (as are real Jeeps... that means CJs), Rangers and similar platform Fords are 5 on 4.5 until they switched in the early 2000s to something larger.

All of the above were factory available with 14", 15" or 16" rims, plenty of choices.

Your truck should be 5 on 5" spacing.

I don't know about where you live but here where i'm at guys take thier wheels and tires off thier new jeeps put lift kits and bigger wheels and tires on them. You can pick up 5 new wheels and tires up very reasonable i just picked up 5 wheels and tires 225 75 R 16 goodyear wranglers very cheap. I'm putting these on a 49 1/2 ton which is 4.5 bolt pattern these wheels came off of a 2011 jeep wrangler which is a 5 inch bolt pattern so i used a 4.5 to 5 adapter / spacer they look great. You could take these same wheels and use a 5 to 5 adapter / spacer to make them fit.Check your craigs list out just search jeep wheels.       Butch

Thanks for the advice. Here in MD I have the same deal with the jeep guys. I picked up a set of stock 90's 15's with 50 % tread tires for $50. Problem is the center of jeep wheel won't clear hub of my 53 3/4 ton.

Sorry, can't help you on the center hub size. All I can recommend is to measure what you need and go shopping at a bone yard with your  tape measure.

I figured. No problem just would rather ask first.
