I'm in the process of reassembling my vent windows and I see that each one has a special washer. I'm not able to post a picture of it at the moment, but it's got tapered grooves in it. Also, the hole in the center has teeth where the splines on the window pivot engage. I've lost track of where this is supposed to go. I do have the washers that come to a point and limit the travel of the vent window and they are installed in their correct locations. I just need to find out where this special washer goes.

Thanks.

Can't get parts pics to unload-too big for the NEW forum.
I could post a whole page before with no prblems. well for now, Joe there are two splined washers that get stacked, on top of each other. Placement?? I had to do trial and error-many errors before i found the correct way to limit vent window travel. Did i mess up editing or WHAT???? DOUG!!!

Can anyone tell a computer dummy how to downsize a pic on my desktop to fit this new forum??

Thanks

Sorry about the last post with no message. That's the setup I currently have on one of the vent windows I left intact for reference. Here's a picture of the washer I'm talking about.(And thanks, Doug, for the response):

Joe my 51 parts book shows that washer with 2 diff parts numbers. Its not really clear if the diff #s are left and rights or front and rears or?? Also it was used across the DPCD lineup in 51.

Thanks Ed. This one's got me stumped. Throughout this project I've kept a pretty decent record of parts and where they go, but not this time. In addition to the 4 original doors to the Plymouth, I got three others from other sources, but they were all 49's. So I don't think it's a case of a different year confusing things.

Joe, sorry about the totally screwed up post, i'm fighting the New forum, but i'll learn.

Young Ed's pic's of the "plates" are the same #'s both in my 49 ply. parts book and my 50 Mopar parts book for almost? all mopars.

I also had some spares to look at when i did the fronts Only. Rears???  I could get some pics if not resolved soon, but it will require a trip to the storage container at a friends ranch. But, i do know where they are in that container! B)

Let me know if needed,

Doug

Thanks for the offer, Doug. I assembled the first window using the pointed washers and not the one I pictured here. I think they both serve the same purpose. Everything works fine so I guess I'll do the other three that way.

Joe do they offer a fair amount of resistance to open? If they don't the wind will blow them shut. Been there done that.....

Yes, Ed. They take some good resistance to open. I read an old post where you recommended using a locknut in place of the original and I'm going to do the same thing. I got the rubber weather seal from Roberts. Seems like good quality and fits pretty well, except a couple of places where it barely seals against the window.

Joe still trying to attached resized pics, i know you have already made decision to use what you Have!

The only thing that MAY be differant is the abillity to adjust the angles open to avoid mirror(s) and turn on the AC (vents full open).!!

Hope the steele rubber vent rubbers work well for you as i have 2 fronts still unused at this point and they are expensive!

Best to ya, and the quality of work your striving for is inspiring!!

Thanks for posting that, Doug. Now that I've gone through all my hardware, it looks like I will have to use those special washers on at least one window as I don't have enough of the pointed ones to go around. I haven't bought the rubber for the rear vents yet. I still need to blast and paint the frames on those two. These things are a lot of work but once they're in the car I won't be tripping over them in the garage anymore.
