steering wheel identification and spline help

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine found this steering wheel that somebody was throwing out. I would like to use it in my panel truck. I'm probably going to use the original column but with a different shaft in it to hook to the Dakota front clip. I would just like to know what year the wheel is and what the spline size is? Thanks, andrew

Its a P-15 wheel with a broken horn ring. Looks to be in pretty good shape, too.

The steering wheel center and the wheel look like 1946 -1948 Plymouth (might fit 1941 as well).

However the horn ring looks alot like the 1941 Plymouth.

Notice the two ares at 5 & 7 o'clock that are ribbed.

They look like 1941 Plymouth and I have seen both the full ring (complete circle) and the half moon horn ring. It appears that there were two style available.

Possibly to improve sight lines of the speedo and instruments.

And YES many full horn rings broke from use (misuse).

Glad it worked. I was just making a guess there.

I have seen a D24 Dodge wheel on a P15 Plymouth , but

had no idea if it just slipped on or what. It was done

quite a while back.
