restrictor dia in 230 oiling system

What was the restrictor diameter in the 230 engine bypass oiling system? I'm looking into using the Baldwin B-164 spin-on bypass filter and mount as an upgrade over the sock-type setup I presently have. Somewhere I have this data, just can't find it..

I use a napa 1050 filter and mount that was on the flat 230 motor i got from a forklift.

Has a very small hole on the top side of the filter for the bypass type oiling system.

We used these filters for years in a fleet (50-60) of forklifts with mopar flat six motors. Some 23" and some 25" motors.

Just find youself a remote type filter mount for a screw on type filter.

Napa can give you the thread specs form the 1050 filter to make sure that your buying a mount with the same threads.

Happy hunting!

The bypass type filter mounts have a different thread pitch from full-flow mounts to insure you can't switch filter types- apparently the restrictor is in the filter in most modern bypass systems. I'm thinking 1/16" is the dia in the original system, but I'm not 100% sure, I do know the orifice is separate from the filter, it's a brass plug somewhere in the system...

Correct its a special fitting where the line connects to the oil galley.

Would that restriction be as small as a wire drill size? The machine shop pulled all the brass before dipping and boring. I thought that plug might be for the oil pressure line. I guess it makes sense not to have a 3/16 line dumping oil pressure
