55 Fargo Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 Hey all, who has bought ready made stock exhaust from Kepitch, did their own install? I am either going to buy this,or have custom made local shop. I figure if the ready made systems are made to fit well, could be the best bet....thanx Fred Quote
Young Ed Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 Dad put a system of theirs on his valiant. The 2 piece tail pipe took some time to get situated but came out fine once we got the two pieces twisted around to the right places. Other than the 1 extra joint its the same as what it had. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 This has to be the easiest exhaust system ever... I made mine at home from pieces from CTire and the length of pipe from Piston Ring. Mine goes straight over the rear axle and the muffler behind that with the tail pipe and tip. If you can mig weld your set! Quote
Mark D Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 Bought a kit from ebay for my car at a reasonable price. Aluminized steel, four pieces packed and shipped very well. One caution is that you have to supply the clamps. Fit and finish quality are very good. However since the install I have replaced the muffler they sent with a thrush cherry bomb, not by want or need but by neccessity. The car backfired due to a faulty distributor point which ruined the muffler that came with the kit. Turned it from oval to round and blew out the mufflers internal baffles. Original muffler sounded good, but the sound of the thrush is growing on me now. I also has some noticeable throttle response gain with the thrush which is what I think is a result of less back pressure. Here's the kit I originally bought. 55 Fargo Posted September 28, 2012 Author Report Posted September 28, 2012 Heres my quick fix new exhaust, plan to make a tail pipe soon, but for now she is wroking well, no leaks and nice and quiet. Cost me about 75 bucks, I did have a piece of straight pipe at home. Yesterday, a local shop I sometime deal with quoting me about 3-4 hunnert, now for this exhaust thats ridiculous, so "F" bomb that idea. Next I was going to order all from Kepitch, but the shipping was insane, again about 250-300 all said and done, and no hardware. So off to Canadian tire for some parts and a Walker 6 inch round muffler, worked out very well... Quote
