TodFitch Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Ed..as the cars get newer..the cutoff for online application of parts also goes newer..parts once listed for the 48 will not make the cut off now..you have to have your own data or access to books to get further back..newer books are dropping the older data due to cut off dates to make these books cost effective for the parts houses..face it..majority of the cars on the road are 10 years or newer.. Thus the reason for the parts section on my web site: http://www.ply33.com/Parts/numeric Quote
Young Ed Posted August 30, 2012 Author Report Posted August 30, 2012 Today I pulled the ujoints apart. Except for 1 set of dry rollers I didn't see much wrong. One end looked like it had a ridge but it was way in the bottom. The u joint would have to be fully compressed to ride in that spot. I do have two distinctly different u joint caps which makes me think someones been messing with it already. One says DPCD in the middle and the other is plain. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 2, 2012 Author Report Posted September 2, 2012 Today I put the car back together. The clunk seems to be gone but I only went a few blocks. Further test driving tomorrow after fixing the parking brake. Noticed the bolt is loose and only being held on by its safety wire. Will probably reline the band too. I put in the supposed rebuilt driveshaft I had on hand. The other possible culprit was the pass axle key was starting to shear. Quote
