old-idaho-iron Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 Does anyone know if there is anyone reproducing 41 Plymouth blue dot taillights? I know I have seen them and even have a pair on my 40 Plymouth, but I have never seen any for a 41. I have the blue dot center taillight, but nothing for the actual taillights themselves.Any info would be appreciated. And even if some of you forum members have a pair,I'd love to have em!! wink wink Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 if you are referring to the fender lower body mounted lenses, I do not think there are any..I have yet to see them anyway..reasoning is the parking light feature of the left lens with the cat eye bubble relector built into the glass leves no room for the dots...now the center mounted trunk light..that is another animal altogether..some folks see a 41 Plymouth lens and think they are in pairs, not so..as it is a single...here is one such ad.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1941-plymouth-glass-blue-dot-taillight-stop-lens-pr-/310299905993?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item483f50cfc9&vxp=mtr Quote
Andydodge Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 I have the centre one as a blue dot but have never seen the other two, tho' have only had the car 5yrs so have not looked before that. My 1940 Oz Dodge which is Plymouth based has had blue dots for 35 yrs........just realised the Plymouth pic doesn't show the light real well.......andyd Quote
old-idaho-iron Posted August 10, 2012 Author Report Posted August 10, 2012 Yeah Tim, that's actually how I bought the blue dot for my center taillight, was in a pair that some one thought they were a pair of actual taillights. It worked out perfect though having 2 Plymouth's I now have 1 for each car!! I know I have seen some repop ones that don't have the catseye, just a plain flat surface. Maybe a guy could carefully drill out a hole and insert a bluedot??If that is even possible them being glass and all?? Guess i will just keep searching for something that might not actually exist?? Thanks for all the info guys Quote
Skrambler Posted August 11, 2012 Report Posted August 11, 2012 I found a set, back in Hershey 1993. They are the only set/pair I have ever seen.... Paid a whopping 50 bucks a piece for them too! I always mention them as 50 dollars a piece, makes it seem a more reasonable purchase than saying 100 bucks for the set:eek: I'll try to get a photo taken, and post if you are interested... Quote
old-idaho-iron Posted August 11, 2012 Author Report Posted August 11, 2012 Skrambler, I'd love to see and I'm sure other's would love to see a pic of the infamous 41 bluedot!!.. ...THEY DO EXIST!!, THEY DO EXIST!! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 Those round lenses don't look right for a 41 Plymouth.............tail light. Would seem to be for the stop light. Quote
old-idaho-iron Posted August 12, 2012 Author Report Posted August 12, 2012 Bob those are for the center decklid light not the actual tailights. Quote
Furylee2 Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 Yeah Tim, that's actually how I bought the blue dot for my center taillight, was in a pair that some one thought they were a pair of actual taillights. Thanks for all the info guys Me too. Got them as a pair. Bought a pair of NOS left side lens with the cats eye from a guy on eBay too. Saw him at an auction a year later and told him they were originally used on the left side only. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 Seller not knowee of what he speaks, maybe?? Quote
Furylee2 Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 Yup. When I explained they used the "cats eye" on the left, and a regular flat lens on the right, he said "well, you learn something new every day". Quote
Skrambler Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 Well, I was able to get myself, the parts, and the camera ALL in the same place at the same time:eek:. So, I will now attempt to download three photos to this post.... BTW, I would be willing to part with these lenses, if there is anyone out there interested. Would need to ask what I paid for them, plus shipping. Enjoy the photos! Quote
Skrambler Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 Also, I am not saying that theses are original MoPar parts! I am sure they were made as replacements long ago. Just thought I best add this. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 very nice..a first for me and I had looked hard at one time for these..more than not they are Lynx Eye brand.. Quote
old-idaho-iron Posted August 13, 2012 Author Report Posted August 13, 2012 Well i'll be!!!!! Thanks for posting the pics Skrambler. It's cool to see something most people thought didn't even exist. You may have the only pair known to man!!! I'd love to have em, but I'm afraid the cost is a (gulp) little to pricey for my blood. Ya wanna do any tradin for em? Or is it a cash only deal? Quote
Skrambler Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 Thanks for your comments. I would prefer a cash deal, but let me know, via PM what you have to offer. Quote
