Elko is normally referred to as the expanse of land that is service by the Elko post office..that is some 194 sq. miles..our "Elko community proper" as I refer to it is very small and is whats left of the town/rail depot that was the bustling community that burned to the ground early in the 20th century..all the local merchant facilities were lost save a warehouse, bank and one general store..a few of the older homes...bank closed abut 1920 as I understand it and the cast iron stove from that bank is in my front guest room..bought it at community auction years back..

we way off the beaten track..this falls crops for harvest is cotton, peanuts, pecans and soy...

Tim; Sorry to inform you, I won't be able to attend your annual "get-together" this year. :( I don't think this "old-body" is up to a trip that far over a weekend. I was sure looking forward to actually "laying eyeballs" on some of the "Old-Guru's" of the forum !!! lol.. I will be there in spirit. :o Cass, alias littlemo...

sorry to hear that..was looking forward to a few travelers this time around but fully understand the situation. I just returned from the swap meet..4 day event..I did almost two days of it..enough for me..6 hour drive one way..did some 14+ hours of walking and I admit my legs are feeling it a bit. It was however fun time..just know when to say I've pegged my fun meter these days.

Just saw an article regarding the Warner Robbins area being 6th on the top ten list of places to live based on median salary and median housing expense. Isn't that in the Elko area???
