anyone have a pattern for the headliner for the buiness coupe or a removed old headliner for a pattern? thanks

PS this is P15 business coupe..sorry for not adding that in the get go..my bad..

I think I could make one if I had a old one to pattern after..my car was void of all headliner material when I got it..

it's very hard job for replace a headliner! sorry, i don't have the word for describe all the process, but i prepare my answer and i post it here

Tim,

You can purcahse a complete headliner that is already stitched together and has the loops for the rods from restoration supply in windber pa.

I got my headline from them for my 39 desoto and I had some help from the person that did the painting on my car when we installed it. It takes two people to make the job easier.

They also sell the windlace so I would suggest getting this at the same time.

Rich..the whole idea behind my request to obtain a used bz cp headliner is based on the fact that no one I have spoken with makes their headliner with the sixth sew loop for the wire below the rear glass..I have had so many say they just hook to the cleats...there are no cleats for the bz sp and the club cp except for the ones design to hold the wire.. and further there is but a small 1/2 to 3/4 strip that you have to glue to..granted, the area below the glass is small and glue in is easy here as the glass is also glued...but the sail panel areas are a different looking story in my opinion..

I'm sorry I did not answer your PM to me, but due to life I haven't checked in for a while. Yes, I installed a WLS headliner in my BC and it absolutely looked fantastic. took half a day or so. The shop said to glue in the bottom piece but I did it a bit different. Straighten out the pointy grab hooks first. I had most of the upper portion pretty tight and pulled the bottom piece where the wire would go below the window. Then I placed the wire over cloth and pushed the cloth into the point hooks the would normally grab the wire. Then I used the wooden handle of a hammer to reach in and bend the hooks over the wire. Slowly working back and forth one clip at a time. When all finished I then cut out for the back window and worked it on to the little hooks.I used glue here around the window area. be careful here dont get the cloth to far into where the window rubber has to go or you will have to cut and trim to get the window back in. Then install the rear window. I would not try to install the headliner with the rear window in. The only issues I had with this headliner was the B piller covers were not quite long enough, so I just folded some scrap pieces and blended them in. This is the first time I ever installed a headliner ( put it off for ten years ) and I do not think a pro job would look any better. Looking back I don't think a 6th loop will help you as it would have to be sewn in the perfect place with no where to adjust if it wasn't. Once you reinstall the rear cover over the package shelf it will fill in the sail cloth area pretty well and push against the cloth where it wasn't clipped to anything. sounds like a pain in the *** but really this area went pretty fast. also when you glue to the front window edge only glue back an inch or it will show up looking funny when finished.

I am still hoping to find a pattern from someone here who has repalced a headliner..but probably most carried it to a shop and they already used it to make the pattern there. I asked my trimmer if there was a way to order patterns (maybe in same manner glass patterns were recored) he answered with a no..either you buy one, copy twhat is thee or take the long haul and slowly build one from scratch..I have sent you a PM also..my biggest concern with the product is the actual fabric more than the way the headliner is made and with some regard to the foam and glue at the pakage tray..the tray is just not that deep for glueing to my thinking..

The headliner in my 38 Coupe fell apart by the time I got around to take it out.

I bought my headliner material from Walmart. A good quality blanket is what I used. The blanket is two layers sewn back to back with loops about every 8 or 9 inchs apart. It was an easy installation. I used plastic clamps to stretch the material every day unitl I got all the wrinkles out.
