At the shop I used to work back home we would hook up one of those string operated brake light switches to the parking brake cable where it was connected to the brake band. We would mount the switch to the frame and run a spring from the switch to the brake cable. I think that I still have one more of the old style glass marble indicator lights with "Brake" inscripted on it, I will dig through the archives tomorrow to see if I can find it.

this is what I usually would put on the cars that came through the shop.

Pulled about a dozen of them off of a bunch of 1950's school busses that I stumbled upon at a wrecking yard 10 years ago. Bought every one I could find, this is my last one and I don't have any plans for it.

Love it. What's it off of ?

1957 Buick specials have a very similar tell tail light. They said brake on also. I see them from time to time on ebay for $15 or $20.
