old rat 49 Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 Where the heck can I find some ? Would like something to use for turn and parking brake indicators and any ideas for a parking brake switch set up. Quote
TodFitch Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 For at least some of those you are looking for a #51 light bulb. See: http://www.ply33.com/Parts/group8#8-44-04 A quick search turns up a bunch of vendors for that (assuming you can't find it at you local auto supply). For example http://www.bulbtown.com/51_MINIATURE_BULB_BA9S_BASE_p/51.htm Quote
plyroadking Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 At the shop I used to work back home we would hook up one of those string operated brake light switches to the parking brake cable where it was connected to the brake band. We would mount the switch to the frame and run a spring from the switch to the brake cable. I think that I still have one more of the old style glass marble indicator lights with "Brake" inscripted on it, I will dig through the archives tomorrow to see if I can find it. Quote
old rat 49 Posted March 9, 2012 Author Report Posted March 9, 2012 The first style would be great but need 6 volt. Not looking for bulbs alone. Have plenty of them. Quote
plyroadking Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 this is what I usually would put on the cars that came through the shop. Quote
old rat 49 Posted March 10, 2012 Author Report Posted March 10, 2012 Love it. What's it off of ? Quote
plyroadking Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Pulled about a dozen of them off of a bunch of 1950's school busses that I stumbled upon at a wrecking yard 10 years ago. Bought every one I could find, this is my last one and I don't have any plans for it. Quote
DCurrent Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Love it. What's it off of ? 1957 Buick specials have a very similar tell tail light. They said brake on also. I see them from time to time on ebay for $15 or $20. Darren Quote
