This project is taking longer that I thought it would.

I got my engine back from the machinist and in the car. But so much time has elapsed that the memory has lost some valuable information.

I'm putting in the oil filter and while I could probably figure it out I forgot which was in to the filter and which was out.

Then I've found an extra hole. It's threaded. Should I just put a bolt in it? What's it for?

This is off topic but I retire in 124 days!!!

thanks.

The hole you have circled takes a plug...the fitting closest is the return line from the filter and the fitting to the right is the line out to the filter....

Why don't you document anything? A simple photo, a note book with scribbles, a parts tag with full description........I don't get it, it's not like this is your first build.

This, of course, will sound like a stupid question, but what happens if I hook things up backwards? Will it just mean the oil will run through the filter the wrong way?

The line from the bottom of the filter goes straight down to the fitting on the bottom left. I'm going to have to cut a tube today and I was going to put that on the in put (on the top side of the filter).

I actually forgot about the oil gauge. I'll have to see how long that is.

I wish I was smart like you guys.

I am quite possibly one of the most forgetful guys on here...:eek:that is why I have to document everything.......or nothing would ever get put back where it was.

EDIT: in the long run, blocking posts that you do not want to read is more productive than deleting your post. Your question, and the productive answers to it may provide future insight for new users. (or old):)

I know you read my posts Shel:) will your fury every abate?....they say that its not good for your mental health to let one person affect you so much... lol:p

Have only recently resumed reading your posts, and that has proven for the most part, to be a mistake;) In this instance, probably just a misinterpretation on my part between the intent of the written word vs the spoken word. It also does appear that the OP was not impressed with the response that he received after posting. I will return to my corner, and reset my user CP to the proper configuration:)
