1mac1948 Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) Ihave a 53 B4 that I would like to use as a daily driver. I Have no experence doing this kind of work but I think the easyest way for me is to do a Frame swap using either an s-10 or dakota. I can get a $1000.00 "kit" from e-z chassis swap but the dakota swap would keep everything Mopar. Question is - - is the kit and the $ worth going with the s-10?? If anyone has experience putting either of these Chassis under a 53 I would appriciat any wisdom you can throw my way. Mac Edited February 14, 2012 by 1mac1948 Quote
Dave72dt Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 Drop down about 8 posts and you'll find a Dakota swap in progress. Eastwood has an S-10 swap going on with videos. There is no such thing as an easy swap. They all take a lot of work, fabrication, planning, welding skills. Search button and "Dakota" will get you to a number of posts. Welcome to the forum. Quote
buds truck Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 I've already given you my opinion unless you didn't get my email. I have mine on a dakota frame because when I had it on an S10, the tracking width was too narrow. Eastwood admittidly has said it is narrow and will be using extra wide rims. I didn't want that kind of look. The S10 rear end was so narrow, the bed wouldn't fit between the tires. apparently a 4x4 rear end will change that. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 The Dakota is Mopar...the S-10 is chevy..enough said..for the money...why do you need a 1000.00 kit to make it work on top of cost of the donor Dakota/S-10...as stated..go down a few thread..one in progress now..follow along...the key to your thread is that you have never done this...do study your options close as farming this out will more than not be influned by the actual builder, the cost at a great amount and the end product may still be less than what you desire..personally I have clipped three vehicles with the Dakota front frame..but then..its your truck, your money..your gamble farming it out.. Robert Horne Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 For $1000, you buy a running, driveable, 1987 or so Dodge Dakota for a donor vehicle. Early Dakotas have 5 lug wheels. Quote
