Greg F Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 Trying to rebuild my B&B carb and received a different accelerator pump. The one on the left is a new one for a D6G1 from mike's carburetor. The one on the right was taken from my carb. Anyone know why they are different, as this is supposedly for a D6G1. Need to get this thing rebuilt so I can get her running some day soon. Thanks as always for any info...GREG Quote
greg g Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 The new one is the one I am familiar with from all the46-52 carters, I have ever had apart. Can you post a pic of your carb? Quote
Greg F Posted October 26, 2011 Author Report Posted October 26, 2011 Here is a couple of pictures of the carb. Thx for looking....GF Quote

B1B Keven Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 I just pulled my spare D6G1 apart and it has the same style accelerator pump that came in your kit. Quote
Vintage Metal Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 I just rebuilt mine and notice a 'flat' spot on initial acceleration....i think the accelerator pump isnt working as it should....im thinking I should replace it because it doesnt flare out enough to pump correctly because the shaft is tapered. Any suggestions? Quote
greg g Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Did you soak it in light oil over night before installing? Is the linkage set in the proper hole in the actuator lever? Quote
Vintage Metal Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 Did you soak it in light oil over night before installing? Is the linkage set in the proper hole in the actuator lever? I did not soak the piece in oil overnight...I read the instructions in the box and it said to flare the leather...should I remove and soak it? Quote
greg g Posted October 26, 2011 Report Posted October 26, 2011 It should soak up in the gas but the oil seems to be a bit better/faster. Quote
Vintage Metal Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 It should soak up in the gas but the oil seems to be a bit better/faster. Its been soaking in the gas...but the leather isnt flared out enough to pump from the initial stepping on the gas pedal causing a 'flat' spot at take off. I was almost thinking of putting another spring underneath the leather on the pump...Anyone have any suggestions to correct this? Quote
Niel Hoback Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Make sure the check ball under it is there and seats well. Clean the edge of the hole so nothing is keeping it from sealing. Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Maybe a 10 minute soak in laquer thinner to remove the varnish and then an over night bath in oil would bring it back to life. Quote
