It seems to me that there was a cork gasket in the block where the distributor goes when I overhauled the motor. I don't seem to have one in the gasket kit I received for the overhaul. Can one be had at an auto parts store?

Jim, I'm not sure what the diameter is, but you may find a sediment bowl gasket from a small engine would be close. NAPA sells those. Mike

Correct sized rubber O-ring will work too.

I looked in my general mopar catalog and there is a gasket inthe block for the distributor.

1928-54 41928 all models

dod/des/chr v8 1951-54 1326836

Make one out of thick cork- east enough.

Check out your small engine repair facilities. Cork gaskets may be used on oil fill tubes, gas tanks. Carb gaskets can be trimmed if the insdie dimension is right. Implement dealers can often access single gaskets so you might check an old Massey dealer, might be AGCO now.
