Gypsy devil Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 KnuckleHarley... a lot of what you are replying to is 2 years old. No one said anything about a rat rod (which is a bad word in most arenas, even though most everybody has no clue what a rat rod really is) The brakes are already gone through and she is ready for the road. This is my plan for her: I have decided to keep her traditional. I am shaving the head, installing a multi carb set up, split exhaust and lowering her front a bit. 5.50 on the front and 7.50 on the rear. Adding an overdrive to her, sprucing up the interior, 12v and getting a black paint job... And I am going to drive the wheels off her. Quote
Gypsy devil Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 AND KnuckleHarley... if the price is right, she could be yours. I have a hemi I want to build something around.... Quote
doctor dirt Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 The car is way to nice to mod! That dash is a beautifull look and the overall condition warrents to keep it true! I agree to drive it out and work out the bugs, you have other cars for highway and distance why not have one that "brings you back in time"!! Leave the driving experience original!! Nice car! Doc. Gypsy devil Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 This car will be traditionally hot rodded! If you want to keep it as a time capsule and cruise at 55, contact me and I will sale it to you! I buy cars to drive and enjoy! Speed limit is 75, I wanna go 75 and if I wanna go to Texas or California, I can! Why have a car to put around town? The car is way to nice to mod! That dash is a beautifull look and the overall condition warrents to keep it true! I agree to drive it out and work out the bugs, you have other cars for highway and distance why not have one that "brings you back in time"!! Leave the driving experience original!! Nice car! Doc. Niel Hoback Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Because putting around town is a lot of fun for some of us. Slow down and look at the scenery. When I want to go 75, I use a Buick Lucerne, more comfy than a hotrod. Quote
Gypsy devil Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Niel, you can put around all you want... I prefer to be able to get in my car and drive 19 hours to a show or cruise RTE 66 from one end to the other. I have been across this country from SC to Cali 5 times, in different cars each time. 3 new and 2 older... I wouldnt do it any other way! The 34 will be able to drive highway speeds from here in Kansas where I am stationed, to NC to see my wife, to Austin for LSRU next year and then on to Cali for Santa Maria. It's ALL about the ride and the experience! As far as slowing down and seeing the scenery, the same scenery gets old!! Build them, drive them, enjoy them! OH... and chopping or hotrodding is not a crime! Quote
55 Fargo Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Your car, your money your right to decide, whether I or anyone else cares to agree. I do like this car, and believe Me Brother, would make you an offer, if I had the jingle or should I say folding money to make that offer. I personally would keep it an original but modded to meet todays traffic, but that's me and Not you. Good Luck, whichever way you decide... Quote
Don Coatney Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Gypsy Devil; No need to defend your action plan. It is your car to do with as you see fit. If we all followed the hollowed path then all cars would be the same and there is no fun in that. As a rule on this forum we frequently agree to disagree with no hard feelings. I have a warmed up flattie in my car and I can putt around town and burn up the highway as I see fit. Hot rodding can be and is fun. Having said all that I think chopped tops and fuzzy dice should be illegal. I do suggest that you start a new thread about your build so we can follow all of your progress in one location. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Indeed, it's your car to do with as you wish. But don't knock putting around, some day you'll learn to enjoy it. Quote
deathbound Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Gypsy devil, nothing you have mentioned is irreversible (or changing the "stock" look).....don't know why most are coming down on you for "modifying" your car. I agree with everything you're doing (most of which I've done also). Can't wait to see progress pics. Congrats on the car. I remember when he originally started this thread & thought it was a great looking car. Also, never thought of his '51 as a........ugh....rat rod! Quote
BloodyKnuckles Posted July 25, 2013 Author Report Posted July 25, 2013 It's sad to see the '34 go but let me reassure all of you that it is going to good hands. It will be all Plymouth when it's finished and I promise you that it will have many miles put on it. I'm excited to be part of the modification process. He'll truly enjoy the car. I'm very pleased on my end also. BloodyKnuckles Quote
Gypsy devil Posted July 25, 2013 Report Posted July 25, 2013 Thanks Don and death bound! I have started a new post! And of course, thanks boobs! Without your help, I couldn't start a **** storm. I shoulda put the hemi in her! Niel, putting around may come when I am 80, but the life I have lived, I doubt I will make it that far. 55fargo... Thanks And Don, I agree with the fuzzy dice comment (except late 50's cars).... But chopping is not a crime. Lol Quote
