greg g Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 There is a fellow on the HAMB board who lives in Essex California, which is on old rt 66. His clai is that when the Pixar folks did the Original Cars, they used Essex as the prototype for Radiator Springs, and that his tow truck (an International) as the inspriration for Tow Mater. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6688160&highlight=essex+california#post6688160 scroll dow to DUB's posts. townwagon Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 I remember seeing an image of the truck from the special features section of the DVD, and it was a 1957 Dodge truck. It was in video taken during preliminary tours of the Route 66 area that they took for inspiration. Not an International, and not a PH Dodge. The actual truck in the movie looks a lot like a 1957 Chevy to me, which I found disappointing. Eric Quote
