oldodge41 Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 You meet the nicest people working on these old cars. I was working in the garage this morning with the doors open when a gentleman walking down the road stopped to see the old cars. We talked a bit and I learned he is from North Carolina but has a winter home in Florida and a summer home here in PA just up the road a piece from me. He has some collector stuff and at least one old car back in NC. He was a service manager at a Dodge dealership in '69 when my Dart was new. He has one like it, but was mostly interested in the '41. We talked a bit and he continued his walk. Nice distraction for a little while. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 Just had a similar thing happen today. Dad and I just finished washing and waxing his 64 Fury. He was inside and 2 people came by. The first was a lady trying to find advice on selling her 60s volvo. Second turns out to be a guy in the neighborhood. We knew where he lived when he told us he had a 77 lincoln and a 57 ford. Turns out he sold the ford and just bought a 49(first series) Chrysler New Yorker. Dark blue sedan with highlander interior and ~60k original miles. He doesn't have it home yet but can't wait to see it in person. And after talking a bit it turns out I went to highschool with his son. Quote
Mark D Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 Can't tell you the number of folks that stop just to tell me that they had the exact same car back in the day... It's all good, I love to hear the stories and to see the look in their eyes when they roam around the car. Quote

Ed put an update and pics on when that 49 New Yorker shows up - what a find. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 Ed put an update and pics on when that 49 New Yorker shows up - what a find. Will do. I did ask if he was on the internet and he doesn't have a PC. So I'll report back. Quote
