greg g Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Just looking at and comparing specs between Plymouth and Dodge versions of the 230, in the late 50's in 56 the Dodge was rated at 131 Hp at 3600 RPM Plymouth was 125 HP @3600 both with 7.6 CR In 57 the dodge was rared at 138 HP at 4000 RPM with 8.o CR plymouth was 132 at 3600 with 8.0 CR in 58 dodge was the same 138 @ 4000 8.0 plymouth 132 @ 3600 8.0 59 Dodge 135 @ 3600 8.0 Plymouth 132 @ 3600 8.0 so was this engineering or marketing fooling with numbers to keep the Dodge ahead of the down market Plymouth. Dodgeb4ya Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Dodge in 1956 had a 2 barrel carb=131HP. Quote
greg g Posted June 5, 2011 Author Report Posted June 5, 2011 stats are listed for the single bbl. the chart shows the 56 Plym with the 2bbl at 132. Quote
Greenbomb Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 So, if Plymouth also had a two barrel, it sounds like you've come to the right conclusion about the marketing ploy. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 I see that the 1956 Plymouth also had an optional identical engine as the 1956 Dodge 2 bbl engine putting out 131HP and had 7.6 CR with 203lbs torque. Quote
