BobT-47P15 Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 The last couple days were pretty hectic -- dealing with the insurance co on house and cars.....all totals. They just hauled off Mary Ann's PT Cruiser this afternoon. Made arrangements with a local towing company to take the 79 Toyota Corolla to a scrap metal yard on Monday. The tow man said he is hauling storm damaged cars for free. And the scrap place says they will pay something for it......so, looks like that one is getting taken care of. Not enough hours in the day sometimes. Will get off here for now as sister in law wants to go to a place that will program her weather radio for her.......up till 7 pm today (its now 6:30). Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Ahhhhh......they decided they go on the errand without me.....thank goodness. They paid me for damage to the convertible, so it now becomes son in law Dale's summer job to fix it for pay. He's still not working regularly after his bypass surgery in February. He said today was his final cardiac rehab session. He's working to straighten out his car trailer, jackknifed and bent a bit by his bro in law a while back. The trailer went down the road sorta sideways so he made a frame machine system using two trees, chains and a bobcat loader. we will be staying at the home of a friend's mother (who's in a nursing home) in the town of Anderson, MO which is about 35 miles from here. Will have to see what's needed to get an internet connection there. Our current outfit doesn't go there. Now we have to find two cars we want as the rentals are supposed to be returned Tuesday....per the insurance company. Or, we can keep them longer, just pay the entire bill ourselves. I think I've found all the Plymouth parts I can find. Not all of them I had by any stretch, but recovered an assortment of things. Next, need to find them from the assorted buckets, boxes and tubs they were tossed in. Most need a little cleanup. Ah well, some are better than none. I appreciate the support and kindness expressed by you forum members!!!! Thanks a lot!!!!! Quote
JerseyHarold Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 If you're lookiong for a quick deal, you may want to consider a Federal GSA auction. Most of them take credit cards for the full purchase price, and the cars are generally in decent shape. I've bought dozens of them and only got burned once or twice. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Hmmm....interesting thought. Have no idea where the nearest auction would be. Thought about buying a cheapie for a while, then keep looking for something better. We use my car, the Caravan, to take trips so it needs to be pretty good. Going to try and look in northwest Arkansas a bit on Saturday.....they have a ton of dealerships there. It's hard to find something you really want on short notice. Quote
