Take out the tiny pipe plug in the head directly over cylinder number 6. Using a stiff wire or slim screwdriver in the hole, turn the engine over by hand, (use the fan), and watch for the wire to raise to the highest point. Look at the timing pointer and the marks on the damper. TDC should line up, if not, you will have to find out why and compensate for it. It's possible for the damper rubber to deteriorate and slip around the hub throwing the marks off.

i am not 100% sure the markings on the crank pulley are accurate and i was wondering if anyone knows how to get it set up right?

Where in SoCal? If you're near the "Inland Empire" area there is a member of the Plymouth Club that owns an automotive electric shop...

The nut is probably missing. I took my P15 to a shop for a full tune-up that lost the nut, and tried to claim that the damper needed to be rebuilt. If you have a damper and not just a pulley, it may need to be rebuilt.

well it's whatever cam factory on my p-24 so i am thinking it's a damper that just needs fresh rubber. the only problem is everyplace wants a arm and a leg to re-build it.
