Now that I have a bumper and a finish plan, I decided to remove the 86 vintage Ranger front bumper. I should have suspected some special fabrication under there. What I found was the front section of frame was cut off and a new section from a Ranger was welded in its place.

I called the French Lake junkyard to see if the frame that I dropped off yesterday was still around. I want about 6 inches off of it if it is, if not I'll need to fabricate something. I have the bottom portion of the bracket which bolts to the frame so that can be welded in place. I just have to fabricate something for the top and trim off the Ranger bracket a tad!

They were crushing stuff yesterday and it might have gone directly into the crusher.

Well, my phone call last night spared the frame from the crusher and I was able to go back this afternoon and have 6" cut from each frame rail.

No charge.

The frame was completly striped of front axle, rear axle, springs and steering gear. Didn't take them long to get the good stuff and have the rest of it for loading on the truck.

I agree hope they kept the running board mounts for someone. I know those are always rusted out on the 39-47 trucks!
