I want original frame, would like to keep original engine. I want to be able to do back road cruising and be able to run 55 comfortable. I also want to be reliable.

I have what i think is above mechanical experience,if not ability. I have worked on old and new cars trucks and tractors all of my life, even for a living for a while, having graduated with a Diesel mechanics degree from vo-tech. My plans are to keep original frame, disc conversion,12 volt.

You said the 3.8 had a recent overhaul, and you have the entire car to use as a parts pile, so why not??

Personally, I am died-in-the-wool Mopar and would be hard pressed to use something other than a Mopar in a Mopar but your Ford swap seems less distasteful than a sbc. Building mounts and such can be reversed/removed if needed later-on.

Take alot of pictures!

shoot for a 251 or 265 and you'll get your extra ponies and the original look, but I would swap out the rear diff to get better RPM's at 55.....I'm doing the 251 with the T-5 swap...already have a jeep rear end...just want that OD for better gas mileage and dependability

what is the best source for this engine? I am working on a deal for a 1 1/2 ton truck.

Best source for the larger flatheads in the industrial vehicles and equipment, as I say I'm getting mine from a Massey 90 combine..and super 90 is the same thing....should still be a few of those old girls around, as they used that motor well into the 70's I think, at least the 60's after speaking to an ex-chrys dealer mechanic

That 1 1/2 ton might have a larger engine...if you can get the vin there a site you can run it and it will tell you what was stock for that vehicle.

Yale tow motors used the 230 flathead for years, a good source for engines and parts.
