6 to 12 volt converter

This is a buy it now item on ebay, the seller has 2. Not the one I bought, and a little less sophisticated but might be a good alternative. He has pos and neg ground versions.

That unit is quite a bit less $$ than the one I got. I really like mine, it has a auto on and off, 6 amps capacity, an always on lead for clocks and radio memory. Cost about $150. Here's the one I got.

That one on the ebay is pretty much just like mine. Mine does the trick quite nicely. Only drag is the no lead for the memory on the cd player clock, but no big deal for me.

Mike I have that same one and I see that antique automobile radio lists a memory keeper as an accesory. One of these days I might have to order one....

You could probably make your own memory keeper with a battery and holder hooked to the always on radio lead and to ground. A 9 volt square battery might even work on a 12 volt radio.

You can also have the convertor on all the time and hook a relay to turn the radio power on and off. That's what I did after seeing the idea in a restoration magazine. John
