kbuhagiar Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Hello Folks, With regards to the trunk mounted center stop light on the 46 - 48 Plymouth, I know that there are two separate applications, one for the sedan, and one for the coupe/convertible. Can someone explain the difference between the two? Thanks in advance. Quote
greg g Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 The curvature of the trunk lids are diffferen, thus the differences between the bezels. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Riiight, Greg.........sedan trunk is flatter, more curvature in coupe and convertible. Just for the heck of it one time, I tried putting a sedan item on a coupe......absolutely did not work. And then, there are the new aftermarket 12V LED tail and trunk lights, usually available on ebay. I thought once that you might use only the chrome bezels with an original glass lense. Wrong. They are made as a complete unit and although they fit the car, you can't separate them. Quote

The reason I asked, is I just removed the trunk light from my Club Coupe, and discovered that is actually for a sedan (since it has 'SEDAN' stamped on the underside). However, I would never have known, as it fit so well it appeared to come that way from the factory. Very Interesting... Quote
John Mulders Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Are you sure you have a Coupe? I bought a trunk light (a Coupe) but the seller decided to sent me a better looker one he had. That was a Sedan version. It doesn't fit, if you tighten the bottom one the top will have an inch of space. If anyone ever wants to swap a Coupe for a Sedan one let me know. John Quote

greg g Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Hmmm mine definatly says Coupe. I know the business coupe and the convertible share the same trunk lid. perhaps the club coupe's truklid is a different shape. Guess we need some other club coupe owner to check his bezel. Did you do the exterior work on your car or some one before you??? Looks nice. Does any one know if the trunk lids on the two door sedans and 4 door sedans are interchangable?? Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 I got this one (marked sedan) from Bob Toft as it would not fit his vert. I believe 2 door and 4 door sedans share the same trunk. Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 I suppose it might be possible to massage the housing in certain ways and make it fit. If that were the case, one would likely not especially see any differences if the work was good and it sits flat to the lid. Looks OK in the pictures. Quote
