DollyDodge Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 I installed my front window gasket this weekend and if fits perfect. I only have one issue. At the bottom of the center the gasket pulls up and doesn't cover the pinch weld very well at all. I tried all kinds of things to get it to fit, but couldn't. I put the window in by myself and it really wasn't much of a chore. The windows are new and really nice. I ordered them from Classic Flat Glass in Placerville, CA. I also installed the trim under the trim. 1 Quote
Jim Shepard Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Sorry to bring this up again, but I just got around to reading the whole thread. Several years ago as I finished my B2B restoration I installed a Steele winshield gasket. It has leaked from the very beginning. I did notice that it didn't seem to cover the entire frame area (pinch welds?). Am I to understand Steele admitted their gasket was too small and they have come out with a new and improved version? John-T-53 Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 The results are final. After much discussion with steele on the windshield molding not fitting properly I can say the results with the new gasket is very good. Steele made adjustments by extending the outer lip of the gasket by 1/8 inch. I am very happy with steele's new gasket. This will improve the looks of the dodge trucks. When you order the new gasket be sure to ask for the newest remake. Not sure if they gave it a different number. I will call steele Monday and report the good news and get a new part number for the forum. I'd like to replace mine with the new version. I called them the other day about this and they were deer in the headlights on the issue. I was transfered to another dude and left a message, but never heard back. Gary, who was your contact over there? Thanks, Quote
1952gary Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Posted June 20, 2011 Sorry for the late reply. The contact person at Steele is Eddie Lail. Iam at home to day and the new part number is at the shop. Will post number later. Quote
dontknowitall Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 I have the steele rubber set...but sending it back to them would cost a package! I am still far away from painting or fitting winscreens, think I will use sikaflex to creat the extra I may need.. Quote
