Lou Earle Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Hear about the guy with a wodden eye who asked the hairlipped girl to dance- She said "would I? !! WouldI?" ! He took offense and screamed Hairlip!! Hairlip!!! Here is my Wood I interior Here is a small peek of my- as Don calls it Batmobile- The total cost of the door, kick panels, center post, and rear panels is about 80 bucks - 50 for wood and 30 for stain supplies etc. Also pic of my woodgraining style on window frames Lou Also if anyone needs templates for the doors panels etc I have a near mint set I can lend out. Norm's Coupe Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Looks good. And it's true wood grain. Quote

marfulle Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Is this plywood or something different? Quote
Normspeed Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Beautiful work Lou. I plan to do this to my 53 wagon eventually. Quote
anthonyb Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I hate it when you do things like this Lou. Now I have another project to get started on. Beautiful work. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Lou, looks good. Appears to be fairly thin material as evidenced by the indention at the screw and washer. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Did he also tell her when they were first meeting in a public place, "I'll keep an eye out for you"?? Quote
Lou Earle Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 No he just gave lip service to her. The wood on the doors etc is 1/4 inch Birch A/c cabinet grade paneling. It is a tad thick but works out well. One thing on the window and door estucions(sp?) I ground the little protrusions that grab th upholstery off so they now just twirl with the handles and u move them. Stops the things from scratching the wood. The top is red mahogany min wax stain and the bottom is natural wood. It was very easy to do. Note if you do this be sure and coat the back well with something as a moisture barrier - I just used the min wax helmsman varnish on the back and the front- High gloss Lou Quote
Lou Earle Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 And he "Only had eye for you" Quote
Normspeed Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 On my birch in the trailer I used Varathane water based sealer-crystal clear and diamond hard. I put it on the front, back and especially the edges. Very good stuff but not cheap. I went with a semi-gloss. With my black wagon, I plan to go with the light birch that matches the trailer interior. Should be a nice contrast. Quote

Lou Lou, you could use double sided tape on the backside of the estucions to keep them from spinning around. Like the type used to hang pictures on the wall. Quote
Lou Earle Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 I do not know how I am using the springs to keep the thing pushed out - it holds in the shaft that hold the handles on Lou Quote
Normspeed Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 The springs go behind the door panel and push it out against the escutcheons and handles. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 After I replaced my door panels, I left the springs out. Can't tell the difference. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 The Lawyer and the Smart Blonde! A lawyer and a blonde woman are sitting next to each other on a long flight. The lawyer asks if she would like to play a fun game. The blonde is tired and just wants to take a nap, so she politely declines and tries to catch a few winks. The lawyer persists, that the game is a lot of fun. "I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me only $5; you ask me one, and if I don't know the answer, I will pay you $500." This catches the blonde's attention; and, to keep him quiet, she agrees to play the game. The lawyer asks the first question. "What's the distance from the earth to the moon?" The blonde doesn't say a word, reaches in to her purse, pulls out a five-dollar bill, and hands it to the lawyer. Now, it's the blonde's turn. She asks the lawyer, "What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?" The lawyer uses his laptop, searches all references. He uses the Airphone; he searches the Net and even the Library of Congress. He sends e-mails to all the smart friends he knows, all to no avail. After one hour of searching he finally gives up. He wakes up the blonde and hands her $500. The blonde takes the $500 and goes back to sleep. The lawyer is going nuts not knowing the answer. He wakes her up again and asks, "Well, so what goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?" The blonde reaches into her purse, and pulls out $5... Quote
