randys toys Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 hi guys, need some info on a 48 coupe, whats the difference between a Deluxe and a Special Deluxe? looking at one and all they say is 48 coupe, any info would help pricing it,thanks Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Several differences between the two. First of all, if the exterior trim is in place, it should say on the rear of the front fender.......Deluxe or Special Deluxe. Special Deluxe has a horn center with picture of a ship and has a chrome hornring. Deluxe only has a painted horn button. SD has a chrome radio grille in middle of dash....D might have that, or more likely a metal insert with plym logo on it. No stainless trim on door panels. Typical S D dash.......... Quote
greg g Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 deluxe was the basic model different dash board, the switch cluster under the dash center had wood grain not chrome, the door trim is different inside, the exterior of the spc dlx had stainless trim around the windshield, deluxe was just rubber, mechancally they were pretty much the same. The deluxe the passenger interior visor and windshied wiper were options. Body stampigs were the same. Bob's pic being a convertible shows a painted dashboard, closed cars were wooodgrained metal, but his horn ring and center of the dashboard are Spcl. Shown below are shots of my deluxe dash. Quote

Bob this reminds me of the parts car I bought. Before I got it I wasn't sure which it was because one fender said special and one just deluxe. Must have been a replacement at some point and they didn't bother to switch the badge Quote
