hey Bob look here. There is a link to a guy in W Seneca, (near Buffalo) who look like he may have some knowledge regarding that machine. http://www.owwm.com/photoindex/detail.aspx?id=11360

Here is a shot of his running,

Looks like the slots on the flywheel are for dressing the sides and ends of the shigles after they are cut. Probably has rough surface.

Bob, yes, they are working on it to get it operational, right now everything works, but they said it needs some bushings

Reg, they were going to orginally use the clubs one lunger, but no clutch, so it will be belt driven off of one of the member's tractor

Did you see the Dirty Jobs segment with Mike using a shingle mill??? Man that thing has a very high pucker factor when it running, let alone getting close up and personal as the operator. OSHA would have a field day with that thing today.

I would be live those caused inuries by the thousands in their day.
