Guest dylans1952 Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 The previous owner of my truck decided to redesign all of the carb linkage. the Throttle return is a spring stretched from the carb's throttle valve over the manifold and hooked onto the heat riser. I can't figure out how it was originaly. so if anyone has any good pictures the throttle linkage they would be very helpful. Quote
greg g Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 Not sure about the 50's cars but there were some that had a brace to the air filter it had a hook on it that accepted one end of the spring. the other end went to a notch in the bell crank where the rod from the firewall attaches. The flat piece is attached to the head where the spark plug wire loom attaches. In the pic, I replaced the air filter brace with a piece of flat stock with a notch in it. This replaces the hook on the air filter brace. I have also seen a fitting screwed into one of the headbolts that has the treaded head, that the spring attaches to. If you have one of those head bolts you can make a facsimile, by welding a washer to a bolt or piece ot threaded rod to accept the fron end of the spring. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 The 39-47 trucks the spring goes to the firewall to the head of a cotter pin. Quote
