BobT-47P15
Hi Gareth. I went over to ebay and looked.......no listing for those dial glasses at the moment. Hopefully the seller will return, but I don't recall who it was. I bought one a few years ago from some fellow in Canada, but don't know if he has them any more......can't recall who he was either. Not much help, eh? I guess the best policy is to try and be patient for a while and see if they reappear. Glad you found a radio.....does it work? If not, it probably needs new capacitors and probably a vibrator.
sp15cspecial
Hi bob was told it lights up by the seller yet to try myself but i realy bought it for the look in the car . My Desoto didnt have one and being the flashier;) car of the Plymouth based cars over hear the dash just seams to bare. I've aready converted my car to 12 volt so was going to see a guy who converts to 12 volt or was going to make a modern radio work off the face of the old keeping the original look with modern ease . I have a guy at work who likes to play with that type of stuff hopefully i can convince him

Andydodge
Gareth......when I had my 41 Plymouth it came with a radio that was supposedly rebuilt but needed a new glass, I got one from the US, replaced it and installed the radio, as it was 6volts and the car was 12 volts I didn't risk it, even with a voltage drop unit blowing it up, so it just sat there and I sang to myself.......lol............however I do still have the old glass...just went & checked, its very faded and not really much good apart from the fact that its not broken...if its any use you can have it............it was an 802 radio as far as I can remember.....vertical thing with 6(?) chromed buttons on the left side I think...........anyway if you want it let me know..........Andy Douglas
Skrambler
Rats. Thought that I might have had one for you, but it ended up being for a Model #800. Close, but no cigar...
meadowbrook
I am just fortunate in having a father who as a kid used to build radios of the same technology as these Philcos. He took my '50 Dodge's radio and replaced all of the capacitors, plus added a jack that allows me to plug in an Ipod or Walkman or whatever and play whatever I want through the radio. He tried to replace the vibrator with a modern solid state one and also the speaker with a modern one and decided the radio functioned better with the originals. I found it interesting that a 65 year old speaker still worked fine, yet I had a 1995 Pontiac that after 10 years, I had to replace the speakers because the cones fell apart. Is this progress? Lastly, the original speaker said 'FoMoCo' on it, must be because Philco was owned by Ford at the time, no?
DonaldSmith
Philco did stuff with and for Chrysler. . Ford didn't buy Philco until December of 1961. (This is per my quick skimming of Wikipedia.)
