jasonfroehlich Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Hey will a 1948 dodge E-brake assembly for a 4 speed with hand lever work on a 1949 dodge with 3 speed with cable e brake thanks guys Quote
bearheart Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 I don't know but want to advise being very careful. There could be 4 or more variations. Measure the diameter and width of the drum as there are 6 and 7 inch diameter versions. I think some drums may have internal vs external bands. There are different 6 inch drums. If yours is 7 inch diameter I might have a drum and band with new lining. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Hey will a 1948 dodge E-brake assembly for a 4 speed with hand lever work on a 1949 dodge with 3 speed with cable e brake thanks guys They are both completely different. Bob Quote
MBF Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 What Bob says is true. I dismantled the assembly from a 3 speed column shifted 1/2 ton parts truck to use on a floor shifted 3 speed in my 1 ton. The half ton has a smaller drum and brake assembly than the 1 ton-so even all 3 spds aren't the same. Mike Quote
jasonfroehlich Posted September 11, 2010 Author Report Posted September 11, 2010 well found out the guy thought it was a 4 speed but its a 3 speed tranny on the floor he says its a half ton truck and 48 model mine I am told is a 49 dodge and mine is column shift 3 speed with an e brake cable so if he was to send me the complete assembly for floor shift that would not work with the column shift? Thanks for the help guys Jason Quote
