Has anyone painted their P-15 with a two color scheme? I would like a cream / green or cream / blue.

Where should the color dividing line be? Is this the correct breakdown?

Front - fender / hood (hood including snoot emblem area completely top color)

Side - chrome belt line

Rear - chrome belt line until trim stops. I get stuck at the trunk / last 6 inches of the rear fender (beyond the trim) - how to complete the parting line.

thanks

Thank you, Greg! Those are my thoughts exactly. Unfortunately, I see alot of that at the NHRA car show here in Pomona and the owners (whom are usually in their 50's and 60's) think that they are so cool. Sure, it was fine in the 80's when ZZ Top was big, but now, I feel, it's just nothing but a loud, overrated paint style that's way outdated.

Kevin...take Greg's word...don't do this to yours.

Darin,

No, that's not an original paint job. That D24 belongs to a member of the board. Sorry Al, but forgot your last name. He lives about 50 or 60 miles from me. Not sure if he still has the car either. Haven't heard from him in a couple of years. Al, you still out there?

Greg,

I like the paint job on that P15 you posted. Have even thought about a similar paint scheme for mine from time to time. Especially, if I ever decide to shave it.

I used a Volkswagen blue and a just cream/white Several folks say how much they like this combo I would use it on a coupe but I bet 65 or 66 mustang springtime yellow- and white would be great

Interesting, here is a 41 which is reported to be a redo of the original paint scheme. Similar to Anthony's, but the dividing line is slightly different. As is the treatment of the trunk lid area.

and a 41 coupe with two toned body silver fenders white (not bad IMHO)

BobT,

That yellow P15 coupe looks like a nice car. However, because it's shaved it needs a little more to break up the solid color. A shaved fat fender just doesn't look good to me all one color. Needs something similar to the blue one Greg posted, or some flames on it to break up the blob of one color. The stainless breaks up the blob color on cars with all their trim intact. Guess that's a personal opinion though.

Greg,

The first pic you posted was a Special Deluxe with the secondary trim strip above the wider trim like mine has. That accounts for the difference in height. The rear end is the correct method for the two-tone, but I just had to be different. The original also also stopped at the cowl and didn't have the hood the lighter color. I thought that would look a little strange so I went with the whole top as the lighter color.

The best part is the lighter color cut the inside temp at least 15 degrees after it sat outside all day at work. Don't have to worry about that anymore but it sure helped since 4-40 A/C doesn't cool things off very fast.:D

Thanks for the advice. Mine is / will remain stock - except the color. I am shooting for appearance the 2-tones of the fiftys. Although the silver / black is very appealing.

I would like the trunk lid to be the lower color. The '41 sedan works well with this. I will have to test with some tape to get the lines right.
