Please keep in mid that one of those fellows is trying to make a 200 hp flathead for his dragster, and the Hud is talking about a antique pulling tractor. Neither of these are designed for being driven on the road in normal conditions.

Building ad tuning for high peak hp will likely leave you with an unsatisfactory power plant for day to day usage.

A moderatly built engine with improved breathing and a higher compression ratio will give you a noticable performance increase and a still very driveable powerplant.

I have a friend with a chevy station wagon that has a 12.5 to 1 Cr and a big fourbarrel, with headers and all the other goodies. He isn't driving it because it eeds a head gasket again, for the 6 time in 5 years. I guess it goes like stik till the gaskets blow then it sits in the garage til he has the time and money to fix it. I asked him why he didn't de tune it put on two head gaskets or different heads to make it more driveable. He looked a tme like I was nuts. Me I guess I'd rather drive it than tell people how fast it runs if and when it does run.

Doing what they are trying to do isn`t practical for our street cars----very impressive anyway. They talk car at a different level than most---so much knowledge---can`t absorb it all. As far as mine, very happy with the engine so far. It pulls much better and the better gear spacing moves it along quite well, much faster.Spun er up to 4k in second with no ill effects. Few more break in miles and will give a report then. Now that Pete`s car is gone, maybe the next "Great Race" could be between two blue MoPars:D

Now I looked in my mirror and I saw somethin' comin',

I thought it was a plane by the way it was a-runnin'.

It was a-hummin' along at a terrible pace,

and I knew right then it was the end of the race.

When it flew by us, I turned the other way,

the guy in the Chrysler had nothin' to say,

for it was a kid, in a hopped up Model-A.;)
