180 thermostat again!

I,m trying to find a 180 thermostat for my 218, *NAPA says they do not have it,* -- autozone has a duralast #15478-- but it does not look like the one pictured on VPW. since my truck had no thermostat when I removed the housing I have no idea what mine is supposed to look like, I would prefer to pick one up locally than order one from VPW. ------ any input? part #? name brand?

Do you have the stamped steel thermostat housing or the bigger cast iron one? The cast iron one uses a napa TM155 I think. Napa has them you just have to get them to find it. Look up the #s yourself on napaonline.com and then take that to the store.

I have tried looking this up myself on parts websites and the search function of this forum, and there is nothing definitive. I figure someone must know?

I had it slightly wrong. Its THM 55 160° and THM 155 180°.

Do you have an internal or external thermostat by-pass? You need to know this before you order a thermostat as there is a difference.

tried the search feature, all that did was confuse me. I'm assuming internal bypass, my housing is big cast iron and when you look up from the bottom there is a small thin port that goes to a hose nipple on the front, then a very short hose connects it to an aluminum piece on top of the water pump. i'll try to get a closer pic of my housing, can you tell what I have from this description?

The big cast piece with the tube to the top of the water pump is an external bypass.
