Glad you came here to ask opinions as most of us have one along with other body parts:D I decided to not argue with my neighbor anymore and I am going to rebuild my flathead instead of cram the usual v8 under the hood and I will have fun being different from the rest, some times I think it is strange because most cars and trucks of this age have different engines in them except for mopars I havent heard of many who put different engines in there cars/truck besides a bigger flathead so there is a good sign that I need to keep mine:D Quote
41/53dodges Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 where did you get that! i want that as a bumper sticker now! Quote
greg g Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Put it together on my paint program. Resolution isn't high enough for real stuff. Perhaps our resident graphics fellow Mr. Maxwell can produce one clean enough to make a sticker. Quote
chopt50wgn Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I was always teased about being a devout Mopar guy. All my buddies are chevy guys, so one day I finally had enough teasing and told them...........Chevies are like your kid sisters best friend, she's cute and she's there............but who cares!!!! 41/53dodges Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 people keep tell ing me to scrap the flat 6 and put a big block in the flatbed. i always ignore them. the way i figure, if it has a workable engine, keep it. if the engines gone or trash, replace it with something similar of the same brand under all costs. Not a bit of truth - I would say that was a big load of bulls---. Nash had their own flathead six from the 30's, which they carried on until the bitters end. The Nash design incorporated intake and exhaust manifolds in the block. Mopar never did that. Nash obviously thought, that there would be benefits in warming the intake. Some old folks say they produced vapor lock easily. We all know the Mopar flattie to be one of the most reliable and easiest to maintain engines of all times. We also know the modern OHV engines have better mileage and efficiency, but if you go that road you will end up holding a wheel of a Toyota... "Life is too short to be spent driving a dull car..." Keep the chin up and stiff upper lip! There's no head like a flathead. Quote
tysouthwick Posted July 26, 2010 Author Report Posted July 26, 2010 I dont think the L6 will ever stop, my neighbor has a 46 2 ton that he bought from some farmers from wyoming that worked it every day in its life since new and it still runs! It never was stored in a barn or out in a feild. Quote
