Well... it's looking like I'm off to Conrad, Montana (north of Great Falls) next week. I have to haul a 500Kw generator out, switch it out with their current generator that's giving them problems, and haul the other one back home. According to my map it's 1366 miles one way going up through the Twin Cities and across North Dakota on I-94. If anyone is along that route that would like a visit, or parts moved (I'll have a little room), let me know. I probably won't have much time on the way out next Tuesday/Wednesday, but I'm guessing that the return trip will be over the weekend of June 5th & 6th. I might be able to squeeze in a visit or two on the return route.

Wave as you pass by Monticello, just after exit 193 you will see my townhouse on your right on the way out. Check your timing as you pass by then you will know how many hours you have left to reach home. We will be home on the Weekend on your way home so you are welcome to spend the night.

Merle,

At Great Falls and Conrad, you are just 250 miles east of my oldest son, Krist, who lives at Columbia Falls, close to Glacier National Park. He has five B series Dodge trucks. He will restore the COE but the other four are mostly parts trucks - all 1 1/2 toh or larger. If you need anything, let me know.

Thanks DAve,

Nothing I really need at this time but I appreciate the offer.

However, if someone else in my neck of the woods could benefit from some of his parts maybe we could see if we could work something out.

That's a very long stretch of lonely road, especially in North Dakota. Make sure you got plenty of gas and a good selection of music. Me and my folks drove hwy. 94 from Billings to Minnesota last September. Even during the day, the highway was pretty much empty of traffic. At night, it's pitch black.

We noticed a few signs in Montana warning that "Meth Kills"...I guess it's a popuar thing to pass the time with out there?

Some interesting sights along the way are Teddy Roosevelt Nat'l Park at the very west end of N. Dakota, where his hunting cabin can be seen, and Pompey's Pillar, just east of Billings, where William Clark carved his name in the rock in 1806.

Merle,

Last time I was in Great Falls back in 2006 I spotted this on the side of the road. Didn't see any other PH trucks, though depending on how you get to Great Falls I may know of some on the way.

Just passed through Great Falls for the second time in two days. I'm in Lewistown for tonight, on my way back home. I've spotted several old trucks along side the road, but mostly Chevys and Fords. No old Dodges. I did spot a Pilot-House truck on my weekend motorcycle trip, but I don't recall where it was now.

Merle,

There was a 1 1/2 ton b series near a junkyard north of Lewistown. Also somewhere in town is a Power Wagon with a wrecker in the bed.

Not a lot of other Dodges that I spotted.

If memory serves there was a real neat dealership downtown still in a very old building.

I'm from Lewistown, MT, but I live in Boise, ID. Since you are there now, the last several times I was back home I have noticed that there is a old car/truck place just before you drive into Lewistown from Great Fall. It seems that it is less than 4-5 miles before you approch Lewistown. I have seen a number of old trucks right from the highway out the driver side window approching Lewiston. I have always wanted to stop, but its always winter time when I go home and its way too cold to attempt that in December.

I don't even know if the car/trucks are even for sale, but it might be worth a look. Since Lewistown is kind of an out of the way place, a great deal on an old truck may be had. It seems like the place is about 1-2 miles before the drive-in theater (near the Yamaha Shop; if its still there) and about 200 yards off the highway on the left heading into Lewistown. Enjoy the wonderful country side. Good Luck

I saw that yard on the way out and back. I thought about swinging in for a closer look but decided against it due to the trailer I was pulling. It looked like various years of Chevys to me.
