mikesinky Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 have any of yall that put disc brakes on your vehicles and used a brake booster put a vaccum pump on or did you just hook it up to your intake. i have a port for where i had vaccum wipers has anyone just used it with any success Quote
NiftyFifty Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 I didn't know there was a booster that would fit the stock location? I would be interested to see that. as for vaccum you would need a port as large as the one on the booster itself, so is that the case with the wiper spot? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) I put a 6" Midland on my 1 ton. Otherwise brakes are stock and work really nice. Easy pedal too and high.Bob Edited February 9, 2013 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
Bradley S. Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Bob, et. al.; I need to replace the booster on my truck this spring. Losing fluid and nothing is leaking externally. Where did you get your Midland brake booster? Do you have a part number? I see Vintage Power Wagons sell one. I need to call them and see if it would fit / work. Thanks for your help! Brad Quote
55dodgec3 Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Mike, are u running a stock engine? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Brad, The loss of brake fluid could be due to an internal leak in the booster. I have the same midland frame mount booster on my 2-1/2 ton dump. It failed by sucking the brake fluid out of the master cylinder and did it fast! The small Midland one shown above is off a 1955-7 T-Bird. Your Midland booster, 9-1/2" diaphram and a 7/8" bore can be rebuilt. "Booster Dewey" out of Porland Oregon. can do it as can maybe someone else. Bob Quote
Bradley S. Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 Bob; Thanks for the information! I will have it rebuilt then instead of replaced. Brad Quote
Brent B3B Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 has anyone taken apart their booster for inspection or rebuilt? or is this best left to the "professionals"? the shop manual shows an exploded view............. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 As long as you can find the correct rebuild parts... and have a shop manual you can do it! There are no adjustments Some mid 60's fords used a very similar booster. 1 Quote
