a few miles from where i live, there is an old salvage yard, and upon visiting it, i found a pilothouse bus. the guy wanted $100 each fender and $50 each headlight, and i cant swing any of that, so im posting something. i would bet that he would go cheaper for the whole bus to just pull it out. the engine and hood are gone, unsure of trans. metal looked good, not sure, need to chop my way back to it. it had 20" wheels on it and had a grille like my 53'. if anybody is interested, i can show where it is and try to get pics. there were also a couple of other makes of trucks there, couple dozen old buses/delivery trucks, and some old mopar cars.

I have a 1951 60 passenger Dodge bus with the 306 ci. big engine-229" WB. Built by "Paccar". Any Dodge bus is quite rare.

Would like to see pictures of the bus in the salvage yard.

Hi;

You are in Wiscinsin right? I am in Fox Lake, IL, just over the border. If the yard is close enough maybe we could take a ride on a weekend and check it out. I really don't NEED any parts, but can't hurt taking a look. Hate to see any good parts go to waste.

Give me a call if you want to go. 847-664-3064

well, i wont be around this weekend, and next weekend is the jefferson car show, so weekdays tend to work better for me. i get out of school around 2:30, so that may work better for me.

i went out and checked out the bus today, got a few pics of it and the other vehicles in the yard. the sheet metal except the fenders sucked, but not the worst. YES, IT DOES HAVE SIX LUG WHEELS AND DECENT FENDERS. will post pics at request

does anybody still need parts from it? im gonna be heading out there sometime soon to go grab the grille shell, hopefully thats universal. the fenders are still very sound with no holes, it still has all the gages except the fuel gage:D. if anybody is around that wants some parts off it, then come on out and we can play fetch. i would guess the fenders about $50 apiece, but thats only a guess.

BTW: does anybody have any tips for removing the grille? my original just kinda falls off where bolts are supposed to be, but im hoping the one im going after actually stays structurally sound...

Penetrating oil, 6 point sockets, extensions, propane torch for the tough ones, side cuts for the wires, bug spray, flashlight.
