I have a son traveling around New Zealand right now. He bought a van that has been fixed up for camping. He sent me this picture telling me it has "sonar" but he wasn't sure what that meant.4425564475_a8a60af8fa.jpg

Anyone have any ideas?

There are apparently a lot of ex Japanese cars/vans in NZ that haven't had any changes done to their instrument setup.............notice the Japanese script above the sonar button........whtever it means.......lol..........andyd

Hi guys

Andy is absolutely right. The majority of imported cars to New Zealand are Japanese imports - second hand ones. So many of them have the quirky Japanese gadgets and often the japanese scripts to tell you what they are....?!

I can't help with the sonar thing - I never had it on any of the cars I owned in NZ..... But I'm going with it being invaluable if you end up in the harbour somehow..!:D

I've been in OZ now for almost 15 years, but still consider myself a Kiwi at heart!
