Because today the key arrived in the mail courtesy of O'Reilly's. One of you was kind enough to send me their link and I got a new key and tumbler for my P18. Today I continued the wiring and got the ammeter straightened out--straightened out in my head, most importantly, because I was pretty stumped about how all that went together. I dropped my radiator off at the shop to be cleaned out and tested. Something was rattling around inside it and when I finally got it out I discovered a relic from the Summer of Love. It was a dime from 1967. Anyway, I have two more wires to run: ignition switch to ignition coil and ignition switch to starter solenoid. Then the wiring for starting the engine is done. All I have to do after that is install the radiator and hoses, block off the heater hose connections, fill it with coolant, and see if this thing will run.

Rodney B. you will get a phone call. If I get my radiator back from the shop tomorrow, I might be starting it this weekend.

When you get it running, video it with your camera and put in on You Tube, Mopar Flatties. Good luck, we're waiting for the music!

Right, that's what I meant. Hopefully will have the radiator back today, if it's OK. When I fill the radiator, obviously the water jackets in the block will be empty. I'm assuming I should just run it with the cap off and wait until the thermostat opens and the coolant starts flowing, then fill accordingly, correct?

Hopefully tomorrow if all goes well. Everytime I say something like that, though, something sets me back. It's probably most accurate to say that tomorrow I will turn the key and see what happens.

I will dial in the Arlington news channel awating results.

Do you remember how many years ago we traded gasket parts for our engines? I believe you sent me these pieces for my rear main seal.

That was eight years ago, Don, or close to it.

The only way I'll be on the news is if this goes so spectacularly badly that they send a camera crew over. That would involve, oh, let's say a giant flaming mushroom cloud that is visible from Washington, DC.
