Uncle-Pekka Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 I might be talking a hole to my head, but I wonder why to pay $850 for these Phillips double exhaust manifolds, when Langdon's are selling similar repro casts at $340... Are the Phillips' superior in some respect, or are we supposed to pay for the logo? http://www.stoveboltengineco.com/acartpro/category.asp?catcode=44 sincerely, Pekka Quote
Young Ed Posted February 8, 2010 Author Report Posted February 8, 2010 I just said they were available I didn't say they were a good deal Perhaps the coatings were expensive to get done? Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Ok, No offense - I was sincerely wondering the price. You are also right, that Langdon's are plain, the coating costs more. /Pekka Quote
Young Ed Posted February 8, 2010 Author Report Posted February 8, 2010 None taken. Obviously if there were a good enough deal I would have just snapped them up myself I already have a dual intake and a 2bbl intake so that doesnt help me much. The dual exhaust would be nice but its too expensive and he wont seperate the other one from the intake. Quote
dezeldoc Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Way over priced, ceramic coating cost about 175 to have done, offy intake new 225 from summit. Quote
blueskies Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 ...why to pay $850 for these Phillips double exhaust manifolds, when Langdon's are selling similar repro casts at $340... sincerely, Pekka It's my understanding that the Langdon cast headers are better in that they have improved gasketing. And, the coating shouldn't be much more than about $200, coated inside and out. You'd be ahead about $300 by buying the Langdon manifolds. I tried to buy Phillips stuff back in 2001 when I was looking for parts for my engine, and after half a dozen emails and as many unanswered phone calls, I gave up on Phillips. Apparently everyone else did too, as they don't seem to be around anymore. Pete Quote
Captain Neon Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 I am one of the few people to actually crack a head on a MoPar L6, and was looking to replace with one of Phillips' heads in 2001. No response to e-mail or phone calls, and the URL that I had for them was dead. I located an other stock head, and have been running with that ever since. Quote
martybose Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 I purchased a bunch of stuff from Phillips way back when, and was surprised when he contacted me about his head. But by then I had found my Edmunds head, so wasn't interested. I did hear from him a few years later, but nothing for the last three years or so. Marty Quote
