blueskies Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 My '50 had 86,000 on it when I bought it... Here's what the engine looked like inside... Ran great, no smoke. I've put over 15k on it since a total rebuild. Pete Quote
aero3113 Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 Pete, I had a few pistons that looked like that before the freshining up also. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) my 54 Savoy has about 45000 or so on the clock right now...according to the condition of the paint under the hood, the trunk condition and service tags pasted on the doorjambs, I feel these are actual miles. This car suffered mostly from lack of use, parked under a tractor shed where the sun did it's damage to unprotected paint and interior fading/dryrot..the front of the interior took a direct hit, the rear seat and such was actually in very good original condition. Last October I got a bit of information on my car...not really a written history but found out how it came to be where it sat for all that time. A certain young girl drove this car as local in town daily driver. She had gotten it from an older relative. I think I have that older relatives' name but not verified that. The man could not recall the grils name when he had bought the car, the young girl came to him knowing he had older cars anked him if he wanted to buy it for she was having to move out of state and needed the money. He bought it, parked it..the rest of the story is what I have done to its done since taking ownership.. Edited January 8, 2010 by Tim Adams Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 When I got the P-12 it had 65,520 miles on it. The odometer was broke so I put an NOS unit in on 2-12-09. I have put 1,362.1 on it since then. 66,882.1:confused: Who knows how long it was broke. The P.O. didn't know. Tom Quote
PatrickG Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 88,000 when they retired it to the barn... and after tearing apart just about everything on the car, I have no idea why.... Apart from the damage 50 years does to the brake and fuel systems, there was nothing at all mechanically wrong with it.. Quote
busycoupe Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 The odometer in my 48 Dodge coupe said 57,000 miles when I bought it a couple of years ago, but the title said 257,000 mi! No, it does not have the original engine. The engine in it is a 53 Plymouth engine, and it had a rebuild plate riveted over the original engine number. Quote
