1940plymouth Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Shel, this is one you posted earlier this year, one of my favorites:) Quote
Young Ed Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Here you go Shel some of my collection to share. This was someones backyard. We were invited to look after he passed on. Looks like he was trying to start his personal junkyard. All the 50s mopars still had their hemis. Quote

Young Ed Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Sadly none. They would only sell the cars whole. They were so buried in there it would have taken days to get one out. The mosquitos were so thick you could hardly breath Quote
hkestes41 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 That is a shame. I know pictures can be deceiving when trying to determine the condition of old cars but it looked like there were some savable cars in there. If not then at least a lot of usable parts. Would love to have that Morris with one of the Hemis, a straight front axle, and some cheater slicks out back. Quote
Young Ed Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Those pictures were taken probably 5 years ago. A month or so after we looked the whole collection was bought by a local junkyard. I think they were around for a while to be picked apart but are probably all crushed by now. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 ED, was that a hard top hawk I saw or was that a figment of my imagination:) 3rd pic from the top Quote
Young Ed Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 You are testing my memory but I think it was a marlin Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 A "swan song", and a car that just looks angry about the whole situation:eek: Now Shel I don't see how you let that hood ornament stay on the car:) That would look great on my truck, Oh yeah I do have a swan on my truck hood. Is'nt it sad, that's a Packard right? I was at a guy's place and he had two hard top Packards. I just can't save anymore cars would love to get a Packard before it's all over. Quote
RobertKB Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 I love those kind of pictures but find it kind of sad also. Some salvageable cars and lots of good parts and likely all going to go to waste. There is probably someone out there who would love that Plymouth logo in the bushes but sadly it will likely get crushed when the vehicle does. Anyway guys, thanks for posting. Quote
dparksie Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Me I was drooling over the International Travel-Alls. I had a 63 dump years ago and would enjoy having another to play with. Actually I just want to go there with a wrecker and give em all a new home. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Shel I knew you got that swan:), Ed I would have atleast got that convertible:cool: However I understand, dig the motor pic of the old style power steering pump. I would love to have that at a show. We are heading into a new era, what we have saved will truly be treasured by the public in the future. You can tell when folks come to visit they think I am some kind of collector. I just like old stuff:cool: Quote
Young Ed Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Oh Rodney believe me I was tempted by that one. However these things had been there so long the bottoms were just gone. The hemi pick is from that black convert I believe. Probably should have grabbed up those 55 desoto grills too. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Ed, I was at a junk yard some years ago (Golfs) in prince Fredrick. There were so many nice cars. They were stacked or parked so close you had to walk on top of them. When you looked at them from the outside they looked like they could be fixed however as soon as you opened the door there was nothing. I mean nothing, even if you were good at putting floors in cars you would have been scared off by what I saw. Up in West Virginia where I got my hawk there were some nice packards and they were hardtops. The bottom of these cars were gone. I wanted one so bad however with that kind of decay it would have just sat around here. If folks would have put something down before they started accumulating all these cars alot of them would have survived. I know of two junk yards that did this, they used tar paper. I wonder where they got it. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Do think that guy and let's say desoto knew their likeness would be used 100's of years later. Quote
