Joe Flanagan Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 I don't see this offered by Burn Bomb, Kanter, Roberts, or Antique Auto Parts Cellar. Does anyone know who is selling them? Mine is a bulb (with ether inside?) that goes into the block and then a spiral wire-looking thing that goes back through the firewall. I've read that these can be repaired, but mine is in several pieces at the moment. Quote

P-12 Tommy Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 You can also look on E-bay for Neil Riddle AKA seaplym for temp gauges. He carries alot of Nos stuff and his prices aren't too bad. Tom Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 26, 2009 Author Report Posted December 26, 2009 Thanks for the responses. Tod, I read your article on temp gauge repair a few weeks ago. I'm not sure mine can be repaired. I haven't looked at the remains in a while but I think it's in several pieces. The bulb seems to be intact. Is tinning the same thing as soldering? Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 26, 2009 Author Report Posted December 26, 2009 Reread the article and now have a better understanding. It could be repaired. I'd have to learn how to solder. Never done it before. I've done a lot of soldering with copper pipe but never the small stuff. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 tin each tube within a 1/16 inch of the end with flux and solder or tinning paste..(can use tape for this) this will prevent wicking when you solder the sleeve to the two tubes. excess wicking can easily block the very small opening in the capillary tubes....
