This may be OT for a mopar forum, but it's still old car related.

Some people seem to have all the luck. My brother in law has been talking about building a T-bucket or high boy for the past several years. He called yesterday and said he had just picked up an early 30's Ford chassis in excellent shape for only $50. When he got it home and into the garage he looked it over even closer, while starting to remove the front axle. Said the front axle had dropped spindles on it. Even before he found that, the chassis was still a good deal at only $50. Finding those dropped spindles on it really makes it a good deal. Those alone are worth far more than the $50 he paid for the entire chassis.:cool:

So.........I guess there are still deals out there, if you're lucky enough to find them.

Dropped spindles or dropped axle may have value to some but they are worthwhile to me.

while the idea of lowering a car is apalling to some..to others it is a necessity to obtain the rake you want for your ride...whatever trips one's trigger, I prefer to use the drops over cutting a coil, lowering a pocket etc etc..bags...great for holding tea but don't want them on my car...its all about the LOOK

Well........this time he's building an old time T-bucket or High Boy hot rod. So.......those dropped spindles are right in line with what he's building. Will save him some good money with those spindles already on the chassis. He already has a rebuilt Ford Flathead eight to go on it. Also has a 3 duce maniflod, with carbs already on it. Use to have that on his 36 until he switched over to a 4 barrel on the 36. He also has a complete blower setup in the basement that's been sitting there since the early 70's that fits the Ford flathead V8. He didn't say, but who knows, that may finally be used on this hot rod too.:cool: All he really needs is the body and interior for it now. Already has just about everything else stashed away. Think he's got 3 sets of wheels alone stored away.

He's been planning this for years now. Finally moving forward a little now. This will give him something to do when he retires. That will be the end of next year.

hopefully Norm he will see that keeping it simple will make the better ride..the blower, while looking radical etc..is not worth a tick turd on the highway..the triple carb setup was extremely popular for that engine and looks great in place..one could almost make an intake out of a 2 x 4 for that engine...lol

Who knows what he's going to do with that blower.:D He actually bought it back in the early 70's to put on the 36 coupe, but it never got further than the shelf in the basement.:D

As mentioned, he had the 3 duces on the 36. But.....they never seemed to run right when they were on the car. That's why he switched over to the 4 barrel on it.

As for those Ford flathead V8's, I don't think they're all that great either. Get those up to 40 MPH on the streets and they sound like the engine will blow any minute. My P15 six sounds much better at 55 or 60 MPH than his V8 at 40 MPH. But just as I'm first a Chevy person, then the old Mopar guy, he's a hard and fast Ford person. He loves the Ford flathead V8.
