Charlie Olson Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Hi, I am going to put a new, inexpensive, tire on my spare tire rim; so I can place the spare tire in the spare tire well. Currently, I have an wide, non air holding, radial on the rim and have to lay it flat in the trunk, instead of it being in the wheel well. What width of tire will fit into the well on a 15 inch rim? Thanks. Charlie in AZ Quote
Young Ed Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 My radial spare fits in the well on my coupe. I think its a 205 75 15. Quote
eric wissing Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Maybe a quick trip to a local tire store just to do a test fit? Eric Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Before buying a brand new bias spare for my coupe, I had a an old 750 series tire in there. But.........that was a very tight fit. Doubt if you could go any wider. Quote
Charlie Olson Posted November 10, 2009 Author Report Posted November 10, 2009 Thanks for the ideas. I just need to match the tire height of my tires and just get a narrow enough radial. I think the 205's may be narrow enough to fit in the well. Thanks again. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 My radial spare fits in the well on my coupe with no problem. It is a 205 75 R15. Dennis:cool: Quote
JIPJOBXX Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Charles I put radials on my old Dodge and I got my set down at our local wrecking yard. If its only for a spare than I would go either to a used tire place or a wrecking yard. I paid for a full set of radials 70 dollars and that was four! Just yesterday I took oft the radials and put back on my bias-ply as I like the 40's look better! Nice and skinny and tall. Now to see what the ride is going to be like but like I said before I want my car to look like a 1940's car and the tires really make a difference in that department. Quote
